| October 12, 2007
Abilene, TX - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team extended its American Southwest Conference winning streak to 90 games with a 2-1 win over Mississippi College, Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Senior Jessica Flobeck scored the Cowgirls first goal off a corner kick at the 11:41 mark. Sarah Stansell had the assist. Junior defender Kelly Watson scored the Cowgirls second goal in spectacular fashion when she stole an errant pass on the left wing and then dribbled past four defenders and fired a shot into the net.
Kasey Ambrose scored the Choctaws only goal at the 88:50 mark.
The match was evenly played as HSU outshot MC 12-9, but both teams only had five shots on goal. All three goals were scored with the brisk wind at the scoring team's back.
HSU has now won 10 straight games and is 12-1 on the year and 9-0 in ASC play. Mississippi College fell to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in ASC action. HSU will host Louisiana College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Editor's Note - HSU's ASC streak had been reported as 90 last week. After a complete record's check due to the magnitude of the streak. a non-conference game was coded as conference. The correct streak is 90 games now.
