| Cowgirls Fall To Trinity in NCAAs |

Abilene, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team ended its season with a crushing 3-2 loss to Trinity in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Championship, Sunday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls playing with a strong north wind in the first half scored two goals. Beth Craig scored off a corner kick in the third minute. In the 15thminute Whitney Piendak scored her 15th goal of the season. Morgan Loyd was credited the assist.
Trinity had the wind in the second half and Chelsea Wilson scored off a misdirected corner kick in the 48th minute. Jennifer Wray tied the game in the 80th minute when she scored off another corner kick.
The Tigers won the flip in overtime and scored 3:21 in to the period when Jessica Card fired a shot pass the diving April Johnson to give the Tigers the victory.
Trinity outshot the Cowgirls 22-14 in the game, including 17-5 after halftime and 3-0 in the overtime. Whitney Piendak had the Cowgirls best chance at a goal in the second half when she hit a ball hard to the upper 90, but Stephanie Bull made an amazing punch save.
Trinity improved to 12-3-3 on the year and the Cowgirls ended their season at 20-2-0. Both losses came in overtime to Trinity. It was the fourth time in seven years the two teams have met in the NCAA playoffs and each team has won two of the games.
The Cowgirls will lose two seniors - Natalie Longhofer and Elaine Pallarez - and junior goalkeeper April Johnson is graduating a year early. HSU won its third straight American Southwest Conference title this season.
