Abilene, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 10th-ranked women's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament final for the fifth straight season with a 3-0 win over Austin College, Saturday morning at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls got on the board early when Beth Craig found Regan Cappella who striped it pass Austin College goalkeeper Alyssa Condon. Cappella struck again in the 32nd minute to make it 2-0. The sophomore from Rockwall was injured and did not practice all week.
HSU put the game out of reach when Mindi Zamora sent a beautiful cross to Kelsey Jensen who found the net in the 35th minute. The Cowgirls would not score again but they did not need to as the defense was again spectacular.
April Johnson had four saves and recorded a shutout, it was HSU's seventh straight shutout win and 16th win in a row.
