Abilene, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 11th-ranked women's soccer team continued its roll through the American Southwest Conference with a 14-0 win over Louisiana College, Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls out shot LC 65-2 in the game that was not close from the opening minutes. HSU played the game without four of its best players - Mindi Zamora, Whitney Piendak, Laura Newbrough and Jacky Cox as they nursed minor injuries.
HSU scored in the fourth minute when Becca Neal scored off a Regan Cappella corner kick. Morgan Loyd scored a minute later to make it 2-0 five minutes in. HSU did not score again until the 37th minute when Cappella scored on an assist from Cathy Patty. Ali Oldenettel added a pair of goals just over a minute apart to make it 5-0 at halftime.
Beth Craig scored in the 46th minute, the first of three second-half goals. Paige Freidman scored on a Cappella assist and Loyd scored her 10th goal of the season in the 56th minute. Cappella scored again in the 58th minute and Marissa Wichkoski found the net three minutes later.
Craig scored in the 70th minute and Cappella added another goal for a hat trick in the 73rd minute.Meredith Barron scored her first Cowgirl goal in the 84th minute.
HSU is now 15-1 on the year and have won 13 straight games. HSU is 12-0 in ASC play. LC fell to 1-14 and 1-9 in league play. HSU hosts Mississippi College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
