Marcus Wood - Head Coach

Anyone who spends more than five minutes with Hardin-Simmons head coach Marcus Wood knows that he puts tremendous amounts of energy and focus into Cowgirl soccer. Beginning his seventh season as the Cowgirl coach, Wood has the Cowgirls knocking on the doorstep of being a national contender.

A tireless worker and recruiter, Wood has built a solid program into one that is among the best in the South Region. The Cowgirls have made the NCAA Tournament in five of Wood's first seven seasons. In 2006 the Cowgirls advanced to the NCAA Elite 8 and ended the year ranked #6 in the NSCAA/Adidas National Rankings.

Brent Camp - Assistant Coach

In Brent's first season as the goalkeepr coach, Brent helped Christi Carr reach her goal of being named 1st Team All-American. A 1st Team All-American himself, Brent brings a wealth of coaching experience to the HSU staff. He is currently the Head Girls Soccer Coach at Abilene High School where he was named District Coach of the Year in 2007. Brent led A High to the playoffs for the first time in five years. Before Abilene High, Brent was the Head Women's Coach at Wayland Baptist University from 2002 - 2004.

Brent’s collegiate playing career started at Tulsa where he played for two seasons.   He started as a freshman for a Tulsa team that took second place in the WAC. Brent transferred to HSU after playing two seasons at Tulsa.  At HSU Brent was twice named 1st team All-ASC and in 2001 he was a 1st Team All-American.

Coach Wood says, “Brent is a tremendous addition to our staff.  He was a phenomenal goalkeeper and understands what it takes to win.  He has experience as a head coach in college and knows how to recruit top talent.  We are very excited to have Brent on board. 

Brent currently holds his National Coaching Diploma from the NSCAA.

 
Dave Wood - Assistant Coach

Dave is currently in his fourth season as Head Coach at Wylie High School and enters his fifth season as a Cowgirl assistant. In three seasons at Wylie the team has an undefeated district record and an overall record of 48-15-1. In all three seasons Dave was named the District Coach of the Year. In 2007 Wylie was 19-3 and advanced to the Regional Semi-finals.

Dave had an outstanding playing career at Wheaton college and Bettendorf High School. At Wheaton, Dave started as a freshman on a team that was ranked #1 the entire season before losing in the NCAA National Championship Game. He was a four year starter and advanced to the NCAA Tournament all four years. At Bettendorf High School Dave was an NSCAA/Adidas All-American, was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Iowa, and was three times named 1st Team All-State.

He has a United States Soccer Federation Coaching License and a NSCAA coaching diploma.
