MARCUS WOOD
In five years at Hardin-Simmons University Coach Wood has led the team to a 82-14-8 record and five straight American Southwest Conference West Division Championships. In 2004 the team went 19-2-1, won the American Southwest Conference, was ranked 7th in the nation according to the NSCAA/Adidas National Ranking, and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA DIII National Tournament. Coach Wood was named the American Southwest Conference Coach of the Year, South Region Coach of the Year and was a finalist for National Coach of the Year. At Olivet Nazarene in Kankakee, IL, Wood was team captain, team MVP, NCCAA All-Region and was a NAIA Academic All-American. Wood graduated from ONU as the school's second all-time leading scorer. Wood was also a three-time Olympic Development player. Wood holds a Premiere Coaching Diploma through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
DAN HEGER
In his first season at HSU the team achieved a record of 13-4-2 and was ranked as high as 3rd in the NCAA DIII South Region. Heger comes to the Cowboys from cross-town rival McMurry, where he started its program in 2001. He led the Indians to the American Southwest Conference Tournament in each of his two seasons. Heger was 20-14-2 at McMurry, after building the program from scratch. Prior to that Heger had been a respected high school coach at Temple High School, where his teams earned 13 straight playoff appearances and six trips to at least the regional round. He was also the Director of the Texas High School Soccer Coaches Association. Heger won several district and regional coach of the year awards at Temple. A native of Pennsylvania, Heger was a player for the Cowboys in 1979, earning first-team All-TransAmerica Athletic Conference honors. He played at Park College, prior to coming to Hardin-Simmons, where he was an NAIA All-American. Heger play professionally with the North American Soccer League's Detroit Express and the San Diego Shockers. He also played for the Waco Kickers. Heger played club soccer on the V.E. European Tour.

The staff will include top college and high school coaches, many of whom are HSU alumni. The staff will include some of HSU's top players.
